WillHint (“the extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that explains confusing words and phrases using AI, delivered as native browser notifications.
When you select text or enable auto-scan, the selected text or a short excerpt of visible page content is sent to the AI provider you configured (Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, or a custom endpoint). This is the core function of the extension.
The extension monitors text selection events to detect when you highlight two or more words, in order to trigger automatic explanations. No keystroke logging, click tracking, or scroll history is recorded.
Your AI provider API key is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your own device. It is:
